Halcyon Pictures signs a two-picture deal that nobody will confirm on record
Halcyon Pictures has signed a two-picture arrangement with a streaming service. Three people have described the deal to us, and one of them showed us a page of it. Neither company will confirm anything, on record or off.
What the document supports
- Two films, both originals rather than adaptations.
- A first-look clause covering a defined window after delivery.
- A theatrical window of some length, which is the part the page we saw did not quantify.
What it does not
Every number that has been repeated to us. We were told a figure by two of the three sources and the figures did not match each other, so we are not printing either. We were also told a director is attached to the first picture; one source was confident, one said it was still being discussed, and the page we saw did not name anyone.
A deal story without the money in it gets a fraction of the traffic. That is the trade, and we would rather make it than print a number we cannot support.
Why this is filed under both tabs
The arrangement, as described, covers one theatrical feature and one title intended for the service directly. It sits in film and in TV for that reason, and it is the same story in both places rather than two write-ups.
